Annual Exhibition Information

IDPS’s first Annual Exhibition was in 1926.  The Exhibition is staged each year in the Town Hall Galleries in Ipswich and is opened by the Mayor.  During the two weeks it is open many local residents and friends of the Society in the Region visit to see the 500 Prints and Projected images on display.

Any member may enter up to 20 Colour Prints, 20 Monochrome Prints and 20 Projected Images.  Digital and conventional photographic images are equally welcome.  Two independent photographers with National/International judging experience adjudicate, accepting images for display and awarding cups and certificates.  There is “Best in Exhibition” award selected personally by the Mayor which receives the Mayor’s Cup.

IDPS has an impressive collection of silverware and there are awards for Landscape and Seascape, Pictorial, Portrait, Life and Photojournalism, Natural History, Record, Creative categories and there are separate sections for Beginners.  There are also a number of panel competitions for prints and sets of projected images.

The deadline for entry each year is in early January and is given in the programme.  Deadlines for the panels and sets are also given in the programme.  Entry Forms and Rules can be found on the Downloads page.
